Friends and Family –
It’s that time of year again! I hope you are well.
Covid played it’s little tricks with variants, and it felt like the rules were always changing, right? But, even so, we were able to make the most of it.
In March, we managed to get a little time to see our friends Steph and Mark in Vegas! We were vaccinated and masked, and had a pretty good time with the level of social distancing they imposed. We always stop at Bellagio Las Vegas to see their observatory exhibit. Highly recommend!
Disney was in April! Again, CDC regulations were lessened, and the crowds were still low. This time, we were able to take Bill with us, and had a blast!
And, well, anyone that knows us know that we are people watchers. In that vein, we found some fairly pretty people out and about that week. If you’re interested, take a look: DILFs of Disney
When June came around, we were actually able to have our traditional family rummage sale. This year, we had 10 friends join us, and we sent out flyers to invite our neighbors as well. I’m not sure who all did one, but I know that ours brought in almost $1100! As always, the remaining treasures were donated to the local GoodWill, hopefully to find a new home.
We did also take a small trip to NOLA, around June 12. Mainly to see our good friends Cory and Jen, but also to enjoy a bit of what the Quarter and New Orleans had to offer.
We were invited to both Disney Trivia and Bingo… and after just a few games… Tony won a Bike!
In fact, between our wins and the rest of the table group we were with, we won like, 6 of the 8 games!
As much fun as that was, what really got us excited this year was our plans in October. With our good friends Matt and Kyra, we took the 5 hour drive down to Santa Fe for Meow Wolf, and then continued on to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! I tell ya, waking up at 4-5am for a morning bus ride wasn’t the best part of waking up, but we did get to meet with Kyra’s good friend who owns and flies a balloon, and that was super exciting! We were up close, learned a bit. We also got to see 2 new cities, and try some local cuisine.
As for Meow Wolf, well, that’s an experience everyone has an opinion on. Basically, it’s an art exhibit at it’s core. Each room or area has a motif, and there’s an underlying puzzle and story to go along with it. You can choose to enjoy it for what it is, challenge yourself to see the puzzle, or just wander around. We enjoyed not only the exhibit itself, and the treats after, but also the time we got to spend with our friends.
Overall, it was a pretty tame year. We are happy and healthy, and work is work. My Milwaukee visits were limited with Covid, but Janney and I did get to have a nice weekend and see a few great friends.
On the upswing, Tony finally got to celebrate his 10 year anniversary with Southwest! It was a big party, held in Dallas, Texas.
Lastly, Tony and I continue to wish you all the very best of holidays, and a safe and healthy new year!
